Maude Barlow, Directora del Council of Canadians, rechazó la geoingeniería durante el lanzamiento de la campaña No Manipulen la Madre Tierra, en Cochabamba.
“En breve —dijo Maude Barlow— la geoingeniería es la manipulación intencional de los ecosistemas, en vez de que nuestros gobiernos reconozcan que necesitamos ajustar los límites de la explotación de la naturaleza.
“Por ejemplo, la geoingeniería incluye propuestas de escala masiva para ‘arreglar’ el cambio climático cambiando la química de los océanos o contaminar la atmósfera superior con partículas de sulfuro.”
Brent Patterson, Director de Campañas y Comunicaciones del Council of Canadians, agregó: “Para citar solo un ejemplo, disparar sulfato hacia la estratósfera, podría tal vez enfriar la Tierra, pero también afectaría severamente lso monzones Asia y África, amenazando las fuentes de agua y alimento de las ue dependen 2 mil millones de personas.”
Ruling out any potential solution to climate change is unwise. It is all very well to say we do not want to experiment with the planet but we are already in the midst of the greatest, though unintentional, experiment in the history of humanity. It would be excellent if we didn’t have to design any counter experiment but the future of humanity might depend on it. We need to leave all options open and conduct the most rigorous research. The Council should abandon this simplistic response to some potential solutions.

Pollution is greed driven and the status quo.
Government acceptable levels starts pollution.
Implementation of the Budget Bill had in it the
Bailout funds (greed) and the abolishment of the
Environment Act.
There were government acceptable levels that got
out of control why else would the government get
out, it is because they do not want to be held responsible
for the levels they’ve set and have to explain the abuse.
Its the governments way to force the responsiblity back
onto the polluters, to clean up their own messes.
Just like walking your dog the owner is responsible make
sure you take along your doggey pooper scooper.
